Line-up
The album's third, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet style of the previous albums. It was a more ferocious, consistent effort that had an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. Its more punk-rock sound reflected the maturation of the group, with drummer Bobby Kimball's improved virtuosity on drums, and a more confident, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work was more refined, sharper, and less derivative than earlier performances.
After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live concert that was released by Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between.
