Path of Exile Item Upgrading
In Path of Exile, item upgrading is among the best ways to improve your equipment without relying on big-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items efficiently.
Upgrades to equipment give a bonus on the item's stats. This bonus scales with the upgrade component's level and rarity.
Components
Upgrade components are the items that can make your weapons and armor more effective. You can locate them by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma vendors, or finding them in the form of item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment with them or by using a high-tier salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Contrary to other products upgrades aren't destroyed when they are removed from an item.
Upgrade components are mostly used to upgrade an item however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to increase the quality of an upgradeable item, or they can be used to boost the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can be made for additional benefits. A crafted glyph can increase the upgrade chances of its target, while an upgrade boosts the attack or defense capabilities of weapons.
By selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will display an upgrade component list that the item can be upgraded to. Alternately, you can use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either instance, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components are gathered.
Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item gains when upgraded using the component. Organic components, for instance have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is recommended to upgrade organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment, and then move on to mechanical upgrades.
In addition to the multiplier for experience, each item also has the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades available is determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. For instance, the most expensive possible weapon upgrade is a weapon with tier 10. However, the most commonly used upgrades for weapons are the tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.
Sets
A set is a collection of objects that all share the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at minimum once. The upgrade will increase the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. When you first upgrade the set piece or weapon is that it will be given an increase of +1 to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades, primary stats are enhanced even more (for instance the +1 bonus for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded, one of its stats will increase randomly.
Upgrades can also increase the damage base of a weapon. This can be crucial for certain types of weapons. Weapons aren't upgraded to give an increased maximum defence roll than their base. It is a good method to increase the value of certain sets and unique items, however it is important to keep in mind that they might not be superior to a high-level runeword in any build.

Rerolling will cost the same amount of power dice as bringing an item, however the new item will offer different extra bonuses. The NPC [ArmorBoboko Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will need the appropriate amount Minerals and Erons as well as a power dice of each type. These are available at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collector and are available for purchase with Gold. NPCs also offer special rewards for each stage of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled once, and the reroll will be made using the same materials used in the original item level upgrade.
Rerolling
If players have enough to reroll tokens, they are able to play rerolling any item they've accumulated during the game. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced by an equivalent level 1 version from another set. Reroll tokens are available at the store for small amounts of in-game currency, however they cannot be refunded. The new item upgraded will have the same benefits of the previous one however its stats will be different too.
Players can change the identity of their equipment as well as changing it's roll by interfacing with an upgrader NPC. The equipment's identification will change from a weapons to armor, or reverse the process. Its base stats and requirements remain the same. The change will last for a long time and affect all characters that own the equipment.
Players can also boost the level of their item on any equipped device by obtaining upgrade components and interacting with the upgrader NPC of the item. The cost of upgrading will depend on the upgrade track, the item type and the number of crests. Each upgrade will add 5% more damage to weapons.
Upgrading an item will make it more powerful however it can reduce its effectiveness. Therefore, it is crucial to keep both in check. Some items may not be worth upgrading at all, while others will need to be upgraded to reach their potential. One player may wish to upgrade breakpoint armor with an interesting modifier (% block chance or FHR) to see what else it can become.
The primary reason people are able to reroll in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game is because they are trying to get a specific character or weapon that they aren't able to obtain. The process of obtaining these items can be expensive and time-consuming and the RNG gods don't always want to play. The only alternative is to spend real money or grind for a long time. For this reason, rerolling is a very popular option in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
When upgrading an item you can pick to level up the weapon or armor. This feature is not available in the current version of the game. I believe that this feature was intended to increase the value of expensive and rare items. However, as most gear is replaced fairly quickly and can only be upgraded by to a certain level, you will typically replace it before it gets too old. It's not worth it to upgrade items with gem sockets since the value of the gem will outweigh the increase in ilvl with the upgrade.
When you click on the upgrade option on an item, you'll see a small window with the upgrade template for the item and the cost of Valorstone and crest to increase the level of the item. Weapons and armor will have different costs, with the former generally being more expensive. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to the upgraded item. It it also lists the current ilvl.
The Crest and Valorstone costs are calculated based on the item's current ilvl and the upgrade template. Additionally the ilvl of the new upgraded item will be reduced by the template's lvl decrease percentage. For instance, an upgrade of 8% can reduce the weapon's ilvl by 8 to 88%.
In addition to the increase in ilvl base the item will also receive upgrades in other stats like critical strike damage, PvE damage and block, parry and dodge rating. These increases are based on the upgrade template.
The amount of defense and damage the item receives as it gets leveled up can be observed below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. In addition to practice equipment, all weapons and armor gain the same stats when they are leveled up. The market will determine the value of these stats. A weapon or armor with perfect rolls can command an incredibly higher price than a non-upp’d version. The same applies to other armor pieces like circlets and Tiaras.
