Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin

You'll need a double stroller to transport your twins from A to B. Our range comprises of twin prams as well as double buggies that come in a variety of configurations to suit your family requirements.

Find a pushchair that folds with one step and is easy to carry into your car. You may also prefer an ultra-lightweight design, particularly in high traffic streets.

Side-by-Side

These are the most common type of double pushchair and generally can seat two children side-by-side. They tend to be wider than single pushchairs. This means they are less agile on the sidewalk and can be a bit difficult to navigate between kerbs when a car seat is attached. The extra size makes them easier to maneuver through doors and also more evenly distributed so that it is easier to carry around on your back.

Many models can be used from birth as twin prams and take a carrycot, or two car seats. Some models can be converted into a single mode with the basket (like the Cybex Venus).

One of the most excellent examples of this is the Bugaboo Donkey 5 which, in Twin Mode, allows you to fit the rear seat and a carrycot side by side. This creates an entirely enclosed twin room and is perfect for newborns. This pram pushchair comes with some very cool accessories, including the newborn cocoons, which can be put on either facing forwards or in any direction (for twin-facing prams). It's not as light as other options but it is very well thought out.

Lightweight

Cybex is renowned for its unique pushchairs, and the single-to-double is no exception. Its innovative frame expands widthways to accommodate two seats and you can use it as a twin from birth, thanks to the addition of two infant cocoons (PS59 each) that provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for infants. It can also be used in mono mode with just one child thanks to a large basket that is placed behind the seat. It also has front and rear suspension to tackle bumps and uneven surfaces a little more easily. The top choice from our reviewers.

Available in a range of fashionable colors.

Tandem

If you plan to have twins you will need a tandem pushchair. This allows each child to sit and see each other. These are great for things such as visiting the zoo as the children will be able to look at all the animals together. They are also great for parents who need to keep one eye on their toddler and the other on their child, as they can see both of them simultaneously.

Some tandem pushchairs are extremely flexible, as they can be converted back to single mode. This is especially useful when you are planning to have more than two children (or in the event that your child who is the oldest isn't a need for the buggy anymore). It means you won't have an empty running pushchair to put away which can be expensive.

The Cybex Venus, for example is a model that can be used in mono or double mode. Its frame expands to accommodate an additional seat. It's not the lightest of pushchairs, but it does come with a large basket for shopping that is placed behind the front seat in double mode (and at the back of the seat when it's mono mode). The seats can either be placed so that they face one other or higher up to see what the other is doing.

Other double tandem pushchairs, such as the Joolz Geo 3 can seat one on top of the other or side-byside. The compact, sleek frame makes it easier to maneuver through doorways and aisles of supermarkets. Certain models can be used on uneven terrain or as an exercise walk due to their wide rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.

A tandem pushchair can also be used to transport two carrycots, or a car and buggy seat. You can save money by creating an overall travel pram system from the beginning and avoiding separate purchases. Remember that tandems are heavier and longer and may feel less stable when bumping up kerbs or navigating uneven surfaces. They also require dismantling in order to fit into cars.(Image: https://cdn.freshstore.cloud/offer/images/7007/33/kinderkraft-grande-plus-stroller-pushchair-for-toddlers-from-birth-to-22-kg-extra-large-hood-lie-flat-position-folding-with-one-hand-shock-absorption-on-all-wheels-gray-33.jpg)
