WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item upgrader kit, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones

They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item upgrader kit and the current item level upgrade (see here now) level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.
Crests

Flightstones are an item upgrader mod that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
