Make sure to check these measurements to make sure your new uPVC handles will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid rod that pivots around the point. When you apply a force to the end of the lever it will tend to rotate the fulcrum in the direction of the applied force. This rotates the fulcrum, increasing the applied force, allowing you to lift or move something that would require a greater amount of force if you were to apply it directly to the load.
The distance between the fulcrum to the point where you apply the force determines how far the lever can move. This is known as the mechanical advantage. The mechanical advantage increases as the lever gets extended. You can calculate mechanical advantage by dividing distance from fulcrum point to the point at which you are applying force by the distance between the fulcrum's point and the end of lever.
Levers can also have different effects depending on how the forces are applied. A class 2 lever, for example has a tendency of rotating in the opposite direction when an effort force is applied. The forces generated when you push on the handle of a front door can create rotational effects similar to these.
However, levers don't create energy. They multiply the force by making small amounts of effort applied over a long distance into larger amounts of force applied over shorter distances. This is what enables you to do more work in a shorter amount of time, and it is why levers are commonly used to lift heavy objects or moving large amounts of cargo. The lever principle is also used in everyday tools like crowbars. hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs, as you stand on the hand brake of your vehicle.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc victorian scroll door handles handles have levers on each side to operate the multipoint locks. These come in many variations & finishes and are suitable for a range of materials like UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for the doors, both exterior and interior, with spindles and screws included. They are available both hand- and non-handled versions to accommodate different types of users.
They are typically used for new constructions and can be fitted to replace existing upvc doors. The levers are lifted to open the multipoint locks, and the key is turned to lock or close the door. They are more secure when compared to standard lever door handles because the locking function can only be accessed from the inside with keys in the event that the door is locked.
They are not as safe as a cylinder lock but they are cost-effective ways to increase the security of your home. The only downside is that they don't have the same level of protection as a cylinder bolt and therefore won't prevent access from outside when the door is left open.
The majority of the lever pad upvc door handles we offer are manufactured by industry's leading manufacturers and therefore are constructed using high quality components. In general, they are supplied with a manufacturer's guarantee.
Typically, they are designed to be compatible with a 92mm lock, or the replacement double glazing window handles version of this called a Paddock lock. They will have an 82mm cylinder center on the inside and 62mm outside. They also come with two spindle followers. Some are inserted into the back plate, while others can be removed to allow for different fixing centers.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches are the simplest type of sliding door handles handles. The lever is pushed downwards to activate a simple latch inside the door. It can be locked with a key. Certain lever privacy handles work based on this same principle, but with the addition of a lock snib (like knobs for doors).
A snib can be a very useful tool, particularly in homes where privacy and security are crucial. You can use the snib feature to stop your guest from entering until they are prepared. This kind of handle can also be used on doors inside, such as those in bedrooms where you want to restrict outside access.
In some cases, snib buttons can cause problems, particularly if you have doors and locks that are bent. If the snib button is used in a mistake or by someone who isn't used to it, the door may slam shut and lock you out. In most cases, you can get in by knocking on the door's frame or the letterbox, but this isn't ideal.
If your uPVC door has a snib lock We recommend replacing the handle with an modern E-LOK 7-Series smart lock. These can be retrofitted over pull handle kits with double turns and come with cover plates to hide existing holes, to ensure a seamless installation. The E-LOK utilizes a smart app that allows you to unlock the door using mechanical keys or RFID cards and is able to be set up with passcodes for safe entry and convenience. The system is tested to 200 000 cycles to ensure long-term durability. The handles themselves are constructed using a solid metal structure and are BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.
Lever/Moveable Pad
This popular handle design is typically used for front doors. It is advantageous because it has the benefit of preventing the door from being opened without a key from the outside when the lock hasn't been deadlocked. This is achieved by the 'pad'-shaped external handle that locks in the gap between the handles and the lock case to prevent the latch from being pulled back or the door from being opened.
This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks which use split spindle mechanisms. This kind of operation requires that the internal lever handle and external pad handle be attached to the same lock case. It is a simple modification to the existing uPVC handles, but it could also require a change to the lock case or even a new set of handle furniture to allow this additional functionality.
These aluminium lever/movable pad door handles are suitable for uPVC doors. They feature an easy to maintain slide bearing as well as spring cassettes, and fixing lugs included. These handles feature an euro door handles-profile cut out and can be mounted on a variety of uPVC or doors made of timber.

Lever/Moveable Snib
The lever/lever handle is one of the most popular types of upvc door handles and is available in a range of styles. It consists of two handles that can be moved and locked using a thumbturn cylinder or a key. A pad handle is an alternative to a lever/lever handle. It consists of either a movable or fixed pad that can be used to control the lock. These Fullex handles are sprung lever pad with a snib that can be triggered to stop the latch from closing.
